speckled Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Just wondering if anyone is using Schools Broadband for SIP trunks and IP Telephony? thinking of using them as a replacement for our Council managed Avaya phone system.
Fazza Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 We use them for SIP lines to our internal phone system and have done for around 4-5 years now. I dont recall having any issues with the actual SIP lines - they are as reliable as your Internet connection is so when we've had issues with the Internet not working the SIP lines may also stop working but that's not the SIP lines fault. You just have to remember that if you're fault finding an issue with the internet and need to 'turn if off and back on again' that this will affect anyone on an external call when you do it. For us they were/are a lot cheaper than ISDN lines so we're not looking at changing them any time soon. 1
speckled Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 Thats good to know thanks for the info pal.
andyfield Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 We changed everything over to them in the summer. Our old phone system was an antique! We are using Yealink handsets and loving it.
Wubbalubbadub Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I have rang schools broadband 3 times, asking them to call me back - regarding getting a new telephone system with them.. that was 6 months ago. Still waiting for sed call.. Would love to know if it’s still worth chasing!
andyfield Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I dealt with Craig [email protected] this was my first IP setup and cannot fault it 1
speckled Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 All sounds very positive, thanks for the feedback.
CoolsMK2 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Also if you can get an ADSL line in for a failover for the SIP it in case your internet is off loner then needed so you can still make calls, and keep a hard line and get your sip to failover to it if you dont want an ADSL Failover. I used 3CX and VM the phone system and got some of the add-ons.
Edu-IT Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 We use their hosted telephony product and their broadband. Has been fine for us so far. 1
