Cisco SG500X or HP/Aruba 2930f, any one got either of these units? How are they.

Both these switches support true stacking, consume about the same amount of power, the Cisco on paper is quieter but slightly more power consumption. Both appear to have limited warranty. Both models with 10Gb uplinks are around same price.

 

I've had a SG300 before now and was not overly impressed TBH. Whilst I am very slightly more comfortable in the HP CLI the Cisco does appeal to me.

 

Any thoughts or anyone with experience of either the 2930f or SG500X.

This was actually for Home network.

 

I went for 2 Ubiquiti ES-16-XG's in the end. Although they can't stack and do not give any redundancy i.e. VRRP I can live without these. Spanning tree works on the EdgeSwitches (unlike the US-8-150W I had) and have actually replaced the HPE1920 I had with a ES-24 Lite.

We actually bought about 30 2930f's for work and these seem OK although the building is not finished yet where thay are installed. The 2930f can now stack up to 4 units and there is an imminent firmware update to allow stacking up to 8 units, so we have been told.
