Hi All

One of our Vice Principals has purchased a Google Home Mini talking speaker and has attempted to set it up on our Academy Wifi and is getting the error in the image below:

Has anyone managed to get a Google Home Mini device working on a school wifi network. We currently have Meraki wireless if that helps.

Thanks

Bit like a Chromecast, it won't work with client isolation enabled (interstation traffic or whatever your particular WiFi provider calls it). This is normally on to prevent WiFi clients talking to each other - generally, a good thing to prevent. Perhaps fire up an extra SSID for it? However, they are really consumer devices.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, I don't know much about these devices although I have a SONOS Play 3 at home and it works quite well, different type of device. Just looking at the following link on Googles Home Help page and it states

https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7029485?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en

Note: A WPA2-Enterprise network is not supported.

I could create another SSID but we have issues here with students abusing the privilege, so having another less secure SSID at the moment probably isn't going to help my situation. He could pair it up via Bluetooth as just realized it has that functionality or take it back/sell it on e-bay.

I saw one of these working in a primary school and the younger kids were getting great use from it - it enabled kids who hadn't yet learned to read or write do topic related internet research.

Not much help on getting it working - just saying it might have some value if you can manage it...

I had the same issue when connecting my daughter's to my home network on Christmas day! I thought it was due to my RaspberryPi running PiHole but it wasnt that. After a few router restarts it just connected and has been fine since!
