Access ing SIMS.net using Termainal Servers

Hello, I had a good search on the site before I posted this, so sorry if it has been posted before.

 

we have two networks here, the Admin Network had SIMS.net on it and School network does not. I have been challenged to give access to SIMS.net while on the School Network. I have read a lot of posts about merging networks to achieve this, but our SMT want to keep the two networks as separate as possible. At the moment none of our Teachers have access to SIMS.net

 

I have been thinking about using a Terminal Server behind a firewall in front of the Admin network. The advice I had from Capita was to Mulithome the Admin Server which would cause its own problems as it is a DC and mulithoming DC's is not a good idea. Will/Does SIMS.net work in a Terminal Server environment? I think I remember reading something about remote users making VPN Connections and then using a Terminal Server to access SIMS.net but there were problems with multiple connections?

 

If someone could give me some advice, or a link to an article somewhere about this I would be grateful!

I have used Terminal Servers before so i think i should be able to do it again. Is there any special settings or tweaks to do in order for SIMS.net to work correctly?

 

Has anyone else been told by Capita that SIMS.net can not be used in Terminal Server environemts?

I installed it on our terminal server and it works a treat. Haven't had advice to the contrary from Capita.

SIMS works absolutely fine in Terminal Services, shouldn't have to worry anout special configs.

 

We had a problem at one point with profiles not being cleared properly on a disconnect, so subsequent logins to SIMS wouldn't work - but I believe its been sorted in a update.

Working fine here. W2k3 Server + Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 + Thinstation

Tell the SMT they are not technical and do not get to make decisions on what they do not understand? - pretty simple really. we did it here and they agreed.
