keyboards Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Hi We've recently had the trust staff move to a small office, so say 5 staff, 5 machines, printer etc, has anybody got any experiences, did they set up a domain for them? Use azure? Homegroup? Go totally Google etc? What did they use to share files and folders and so forth. Thanks
ReverentCreature Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Server 2016 Essentials might be an option for a small setup.
MatthewL Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Create a VPN back and give them access to the domain from where they are, everything gets backed up centrally then.
localzuk Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 What sort of internet connection are you installing? If it isn't very fast/guarenteed, a VPN would be a slow solution to their needs (talking as someone with VPN links over FTTC to 4 of our schools). It certainly wouldn't be a great experience working on large files over that connection. I'd suggest combining a VPN with branchcache for that sort of user count, rather than setting them up with their own domain. However, depending on what they need, it may be even easier to simply go with Azure AD and Office 365 for them - no "traditional" domain.
