6Foot2 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Link: Don't lick the mixing bowl, food safety regulators warn [The Telegraph] Home bakers should avoid licking the mixing bowl because uncooked flour can carry dangerous bugs like Ecoli, health watchdogs have warned. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning after an E. coli outbreak was linked to a batch of flour produced there in 2016. Dozens of people across the US were struck down by a strain of E. coli O121 that was later traced back to a mill in Kansas City, Missouri. As a result ten million pounds of flour were recalled...
stevenlong1985 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I saw this yesterday and was like this for news in the US, why is it showing in the BBC? what about dusting flour on bread? We have better eggs standards in the EU, all the chickens are vaccinated, in the US they don't vaccinate and only wash eggs, which is less effective. so RAW eggs are all good and are vaccinated against "Salmonella" for the last 30 years and E. coli O121 seems to be really in Americas / Canada
korifugi Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I think they're right - last time I tried it I got my tongue stuck in the whisk. 4
