[sims] Alternative to NOVA - P

Hi,

Was looking for any alternatives to Nova P for parents evenings. The school isn't interested in parents making bookings online and want to make the parents appointments before hand and send out letters old school. Essentially they want something that does what Nova P does but better (flexibility and functionality). They currently use nova p but find that they often have to make changes after running the schedule.

Any ideas?

You can use the system to make the bookings yourself still. You don't have to open this up to parents... But gives you the option to later if/when ready

I find clay tablets are a robust and reliable solution. Of course the technology-is-the-future crowd keep on at me to switch to 'paper' but it seems pretty flimsy if you ask me. Let's wait and see if it beds in.

Haha, I'm with you (or at least with your point underneath the sarcasm). With the method of giving the parents no choice about times - they get whatever appointment Nova-P spits out for the most part - they get >95% parental attendance and don't want to see this drop by moving to a system where the onus is on the parents to make the appointment.

 

I am trying to make the arguement that you pre-book your vunerables with the online system closed, open it up to parents for a week, then close it and assign appointments to the others that didn't bother. Keep the attendance up but give the parents that can be bothered the flexibility to make the appointments that suit them.

 

Fear of change with this one. It works for the most part but takes days of admin time.
