Hi guys

 

Can anyone help me out with converting 2 fairly basic logos into dxf format for our school bus printers.

 

I have tried myself and found my work to shocking.

 

if you would like to have a go please let me know

 

the format I was asked to send was dxf

I had a go but not sure when converting to dxf all I get is an outline is that normal behaviour

Sounds like you're along the right track, but missed a setting, send them over and I'll have a look.

You need to 'trace' it in something like Adobe Illustrator or another program that supports vectors.

If it's a colour file it may also be an issue with tracing it.

 

I'm surprised the printers dont have access to any Adobe products as they should be able to do this sort of thing - unless of course there's an additional extortionate charge for doing so?!

Sounds like they've only got autodesk available… bit weird*, but anyhow, trace in photoshop or illustrator, ensure you've closed each path (otherwise you can't fill it with colour), then export paths as a .dxf file.

Then they can open it into autocad and print it out to their plotter…

*odd that a bus printer is only using autocad in this day'n'age…
