[sims] Sims profile for entering achievements

Hi,

 

Not sure if this is possible or not. We have relaunched our achievement system and want to allow a 6th form student to enter some data regarding clubs students attend. Does anyone know if there is a way on Sims to restrict all information that the person can see apart from the achievement and behaviour sections?

 

Any help would be really appreciated

NO! Do not allow student access to SIMS! End of story!

We are not allowing them access/have not allowed them access. I am trying to find out if it is possible for either the Head Boy/Girl to enter data on one section and if that is lockable so that they cannot see anything else. If its not possible thats what I would like to know.

In order to access that section you will need to grant them access to your student profiles. Even with a limited amount of data displayed, you will see stuff like Quick Note that can contain sensitive information. Once you are on the conduct screen, you will be seeing behaviour and achievement data, exclusions, interventions, etc. The student will be able to scroll through past and present behaviour incidents and see a student has been excluded for confidential reasons, picked on one of their friends in the past, been caught taking drugs, smoking, bullying, etc.

 

You also need to grant access to the S: Drive for SIMS to work. That potentially grants access to further sensitive information.

 

Not intending to be a blocker here but you really don't want students going anywhere near SIMS (or any MIS system).

Why can't the member of staff running the club enter it themselves directly into SIMS?

I don't want to sound all doom and gloom, but it's highly likely that someone will end up looking for a new job if you let any of the 6th form loose on SIMS.

To answer the question, no there is no way to restrict a login to the extent you would need. SIMS is not designed for anyone but staff to use, and even basic access gives information that would be classified as personal.
