I'm running W10 Education. It seems the Calculator app is there, but is disabled somehow. I don't have app locker configured. Any ideas why?

Works fine here on 1703 logged in as an administrator though.

Some UWP Apps May Stop Functioning After November Updates for Windows 10

 

Microsoft is warning customers of a known issue with some Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps after applying this month’s cumulative rollups.

 

The issue affects only versions 1709, 1703, and 1607.

 

Universal Windows Platform (UWP) applications that use JavaScript and asm.js may stop working after installing KB4048955.

 

Microsoft’s solution while waiting for a permanent fix is to uninstall and then reinstall the application.

Have you disabled UAC? We found problems with all of the "metro apps" when this was the case!

 

Alternatively, you could install a cheeky windows 7-esque calculator program which replaces the new app with the Windows 7 calc.

thats not a problem iirc thats by design same as you cant run them as the user administrator you have to have uac on for them to run as they are sandboxed

Yeah that's correct, they're designed for you to allow UAC but it's common practice that UAC is disabled a lot in schools, so I thought it may be worth a mention that this is the case to save hours of head scratching!

 

We tend to go down the Windows 7 calculator program that I suggested, as we have other dependencies that rely on UAC being disabled.
