Hi,

We are in the process of migrating from SIMS to Schoolpod but have hit a brick wall when it comes to FMS reconciliation. Normally as in most SIMS/FMS schools a reconciliation file is downloaded and imported into FMS. This file is then Automatically reconciled with little user intervention. We have been informed by our Sims account manager that these files will now have to be manually reconciled and when the weeks reconciliation files are downloaded these will go into suspense awaiting manual reconciliation. Our Bursar tells me that this would be extremely time consuming and is not happy about the amount of additional work this will entail.

I know we could change our financial package to Sage or another provider but this (I believe), wouldn't solve the problem of downloaded reconciled files going into suspense.

If anybody is able to suggest a workaround or say how your school has managed (since moving to another MIS), I would be forever grateful.

Sorry if I am a little vague but I have very little knowledge of the workings of FMS other than being able to import files and run Upgrades from Solus.

Our main reason for choosing Schoolpod is its ability to Run from the cloud and to reduce the cost of ownership to our school, ie backups/server costs and no more on premise upgrades.

Thank you in advance

I think you need to be more specific.

SIMS/SchoolPod is an MIS whereas FMS is an accounting package.

Where is the reconciliation file being downloaded from?

The reconciliation files are downloaded from anycomms https://anycomms.bgfl.org/Login

I realise that both Schoolpod and SIMS are MIS packages but certain information like Staff salaries and contracts are stored in SIMS but are also accessible from within FMS. However this information can be extracted to an xml and imported manually into Schoolpod. More time consuming but achievable. Our main problem is finding a speedier way to manually change files that will now go into suspense to be reconciled. Sorry if I seem a little vague but I know very little about FMS other than our Bursar downloading weekly files from anycomms and importing them into FMS. We can still download the files and import them into FMS as per usual. The main difference is these files will no longer be Automatically reconciled due to no longer using SIMS.
