Hyper-V 2016 spurious Checkpoint

Hi all,

 

I use Veeam to backup my virtual servers. One stopped abruptly a while ago and has left me with a checkpoint which is still steadily growing. If I right click it, all I get is "Connect", "Settings" and "Help", which are the same choices I get in the "Actions" panel on the right. Any ideas how I get rid of it? I've obviously Googled, but there's a lot of quite confusing 'solutions' out there, and as it's my email server I haven't been brave enough to try any. If I back it up again, it seems to only back up the AVHD file, not the entire server. The only thing I have done (probably stupidly) is to create another checkpoint, but all that's done is give me another which is still growing. Any thoughts? What are the implications of me trying to move it to another host as the current one is running out of space? Can I safely delete the checkpoint I created manually?

If you move it, or shut it down it should auto merge them back together if they're veeam ones.

I've just tried to delete the checkpoint I manually created and it started filling the host's disk up. It's now only got just under 4GB left so I've cancelled the merge. There is only the email server being hosted on here. It is 677GB. The checkpoint I created is now 163GB and the spurious checkpoint created by Veeam which I can do nothing with is 166GB. If I tell it to merge, does it manage the disk space sensibly or is it just going to fill the host and then bring down the email server?
