Anyone else using this site? Going though our smoothwall it hangs on any browser (IE,Chrome and firefox) but looking at the history of the site it seems to be rather a dodgy place anyway

Of course, its an essential teaching resource to some...

Yeah, its history on Wikipedia makes interesting reading as well!

The odd thing is, even when allowed for staff it hangs any browser we try it on. Maybe that's just as well!

Last time I did a search to check what type of content was on dailymotion (as a teacher had requested access) the first hit was a pron video. Teacher request denied!

Edit: 'p' word typo'd in case it causes issues with filtering systems!

The site itself is no more dangerous from the content filtering side of things than Youtube or Vimeo. However, Dailymotion has next to no moderation at all. You can find full episodes of TV shows, Cartoons, Movies etc with very little searching. And we're not talking the dodgy pitch-altered, mirrored versions in spanish with english subtitles style tv episodes you find on Youtube. These are full 720-1080p episodes. There's also a lot of content on there you probably wouldn't want students accessing (liveleak-style videos etc :( ). It's probably for the best that it's kept on block, even if it does interfere with some teaching materials. Worse comes to worse you could probably rip the video from the site and use it locally (I believe dailymotion has a download option without having to use youtube2mp3.com style sites) or use the content-filtering options to enable video urls video-by-video.

I noticed the homepage was a list of ripped off episodes of Neighbours, so just another trash site then basically. Do teachers just sit at home searching for these awful sites!
