Hiding Administrative Tools

Unfortunately removing the common folders is not an option We just need to lose the Administrative Tools.

probably not the best fix but I have changed the permissions on admin tools so only local admin and domain admin have access on the client machines

This looks like the best of a bad situation, the folder remains but its empty, Have you hidden it or just left it in the menu empty. Just wondering if iI hide the folder it will hide it in control panel it seems to be linked to the same shortcuts/ icons.

 

EDIT: just hidden the folder which would work except it hides the Control Panel Icons too.....

I've taken the permissions away from the folder so that a standard user cant see the folder

But the Root Folder still shows ? No Icons Show though is that correct?

Yeah that's correct only local admin will see the admin tools (icons) - what you can do once on the domain - add in domain admins on the folder - I'm sure I could powershell that but haven't got around to it yet

Has anyone had any luck with this? Need to implement this for standard school users.

Yes. Follow Rankin guide to creating default profile. This removes the complete right click start menu. To ensure administrators have it ensure you log in as the domain admin before you copy the default profile over.
