dloudon96 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Anyone having issues with Dell OptiPlex 3040’s failing and booting back to the Dell diagnosis page which says the following:
dloudon96 Posted October 16, 2017 Author Posted October 16, 2017 We have Toshiba 256GB SSD’s in these machines and so far, out of a batch of 32, we’ve had 14 machines fail, all with the same error code and validation. Dell are sending us replacement machines, but just wondered if anyone else was having the same sort of issues with anyone of your 3040’s.
ShellfishClive Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 One of the schools I support only has Dell Optiplexs (3040, 3050) and they sometimes come up with these error. Dell seem to send out really crappy HDDs with their machines I have had to replace so many in the space of 6 months. I would try the HDD in another machine or a docking station see if that can pick it up, flash the BIOS to the latest update as there was a problem with Secure Boot on an early revision of the Optiplexs BIOS if none of them work send the HDD back if it's under warranty. If not you will most likely need get a new HDD from somewhere.
dloudon96 Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Glad you’re not the only one. The machines are under warranty and Dell are sending replacement drives out for those that have failed, so far 15 out of 40 have failed. But I’m just wondering as to why the drives are failing, and it’s only the Toshiba that are failing.
atcoates Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 We've had batches of ssds fail in dell laptops as well.
