Word 2016 Crashing Issue

Hi,

 

Creators Update 1703 has been causing a bit of a ruckus recently (official stable build here is 1607). There are processes in place in blocking the update, but it appears to have affected a fair share of PCs in my place.

 

The biggest problem is when performing a save or print operation in Word 2016, the operation completes but causes Word 2016 to freeze completely. This never happened while we had build 1607 - and rolling the update back to this resolved the freeze issue.

Malwarebytes is not used, and the AV software in use is Kaspersky. Word 2016 version is 16.0.4266.1001

 

Are there any particular hotfixes that resolves this? (ideal solution)

 

Manually rolling back each machine to 1607 is certainly a bad workaround, and not something I particularly want to do!

Are you on Office 365?

The latest Word version I have (which I got today via o365 updates) is 16.0.8528.2137 but we are on the fast ring for updates.

There was a dodgy KB for it that needs to be removed. I'll look for it

Come to think of it. That was causing formatting problems not crashes so not relevant

We're using Office 365 and Office 2016.

 

There have certainly been more office-related crashes since the 1703 update

There was an update (KB4011039) that was causing issues with word, more specifically Text Boxes and Tables but I believe they have since resolved that. We are having issues here with large file sized word documents not opening properly and the only temporary fix I have found is to Open Word first then File -> Open which seems to work okay. We have had no end of issues with the latest update and the Office Suite though.
