neonetman Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Good morning all, I'm starting to look at a migration from SCCM2007 on Windows Server 2008, moving to SCCM 2012 on Server 2016 Has anyone already done this, and if so how easy was the process - are there any pitfalls I need to consider?
Geoff Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I moved from SCCM 2012 on 2k8r2 to SCCM CB on 2016. I would upgrade SCCM on the 2k8 box as far as you can (2012 R2 v1607 IIRC) then either do a site migration or a site backup and restore to the new VM.
sparkeh Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Firstly you want to upgrade to SCCM Current Branch not 2012 You can actually perform a migration directly from 2007 to CB: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/migration/migrate-data-between-hierarchies However (and I don't know the complexity of your environment) if I were going from 2007 -> CB I would seriously consider starting again. Migrating from 2008 R2 -> CB caused me no end of headaches and I wouldn't want to go through so many steps, troubleshooting each one.
