Hi all. The other day we setup some Groups in Google in the hope of being able to email a group at a time rather than individually.

Our business manager just tried to share a google drive to our Governors group but got the following message back,

We're writing to let you know that the group you tried to contact (All_Governors) may not exist, or you may not have permission to post messages to the group. A few more details on why you weren't able to post:

* You might have spelled or formatted the group name incorrectly.

* The owner of the group may have removed this group.

* You may need to join the group before receiving permission to post.

* This group may not be open to posting.

Yes the group does exist.

We clicked on the auto generated group email, so it must have the correct spelling.

The owner has not removed the group.

You may need to join the group before receiving permission to post. - We only want Governors in the Governors group.

This group may not be open to posting - How do I check this?????

Any other thoughts?

if the group is private and locked down, the person who shared the google drive thing may not have access to the group and thus cant send the email to the group.

you most likely need to edit the group to enable your organisation to email them:
