CommodoreS Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 The school has 20 32GB ipads and over 400 children. They are now set up with ASM and Zuludesk but I have found out that a 1GB local cache is used for every child that logs on to that ipad for them. As a result two ipads bricked due to lack of space during the ios 11 update and others are now showing no space free, so are not pulling down new apps or ios updates. The only solution I have been given is to reset the ipads, which is not ideal as this is going to happen a lot. Whats the best MDM solution for my situation which will not have these problems? 1
atcoates Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 RM advised us not to run ASM on anything under 128gb (64gb for Smaller school) Ipad for exactly the reasons you have stated. Sorry that doesn't help you.
CommodoreS Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Even 128GB would not be enough if each of the 400+ children need a 1GB local cache area.
atcoates Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 This article here https://help.apple.com/classroom/ipad/1.0/#/cadc1b9b4f8a sets the min spec at 32gb but maybe apple are making the assumption that each class has a set of Ipads or they would have a higher ratio of Ipads to students. Also doesn't leave much room for apps or videos etc.
Brimstone Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 The link below will help you, you can only configure shared iPad with a max of 10 users https://help.apple.com/deployment/education/#/iorbece7afd7
