QNAP TS-421U Slow

Has anyone used these QNAP boxes (TS-421U)? We have 2 and finding them incredibly slow at backing up, with their inbuilt software. We use them as an archive, which is great but I just want to back up one to the other. It's currently backing up a 15Gb folder and it says its going to take 494 hours! It's just ridiculous.

 

I've been talking to QNAP support since May, which is based at their HQ in Taiwan, and still no further. They keep remoting to us and doing tests, and then they keep telling me to update to the latest firmware which will fix it. It's now with their development team. It must be a hardware issue and just want to get it sorted. Happy to spend money on upgrading the disks or memory whatever will work or other software to do the backing up.

I had a customer once with a QSAN which exhibited similar problems after a couple of years. It may not be the same but a memory upgrade cured the problem completely. Hope this helps.
