  1. Dear All We are looking for an ICT Apprentice to join our team at Framlingham Suffolk. Further details and how to apply below: https://www.framlinghamcollege.co.uk/vacancy/ict-apprentice/
  2. Dear all, We're having a problem with Siblelius 7.1 sounds downloader (i know it's all quite out of date!). I got the link direct from Avid back in 2017. The link still works and downloads the file, it unpacks it, I can run it but it then complains about needing JDK, install that and it still doesn't work. Catalina you get an error pop up "LSOpenURLsWithRole()failed with error - 10810 for the file /Users/Admin/Desktop/Avid_Downloader_mac.app. I read around and it seemed to suggest it was a problem with running it from it's location as a 3rd party app, so I moved it in to Users/Shared but it did the same. Big Sur you get no pop up error. If I right click the Avid_downloader and click show package contents and launch the avid_downloader in a terminal. It says "Could not create the Java Virtual Machine" I'm thinking it's all just too old for the latest Mac OS's but just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas!! Many thanks, Jenny

  5. Does anyone know if its possible to edit the personalization menu in group policy? I'd like to add File Explorer to all start menus (on the far left above settings which you can turn on in Personalization settings) but it seems impossible on group policy. We're on Server 2012 R2. Thanks Jenny
  6. Has anyone used these QNAP boxes (TS-421U)? We have 2 and finding them incredibly slow at backing up, with their inbuilt software. We use them as an archive, which is great but I just want to back up one to the other. It's currently backing up a 15Gb folder and it says its going to take 494 hours! It's just ridiculous. I've been talking to QNAP support since May, which is based at their HQ in Taiwan, and still no further. They keep remoting to us and doing tests, and then they keep telling me to update to the latest firmware which will fix it. It's now with their development team. It must be a hardware issue and just want to get it sorted. Happy to spend money on upgrading the disks or memory whatever will work or other software to do the backing up. If anyone can offer any help I would be very grateful! Thanks Jenny

  11. Currently looking into a solution to house our online email archive db, and archive off old data to remove from existing live data and backup. Looked at a couple of QNAP TS-412U boxes with a total of 12TB of space on each for about £1100 to house in different locations. Is anyone else archiving or looking into this? Or have any good recommendations for archiving? Many thanks.
