mrbios Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Bit of a bizarre one, but could someone else running windows 10, on a standard non-admin user, enable the GPO "Disable showing balloon notifications as toasts" which is under the "Start Menu and Taskbar" section. Then see if explorer.exe crashes when you take control of the logged on machine with impero? Hardly a setting to care about but for some reason it was enabled in one of my GPOs and it took me agggggggggggges to work out the issue with impero, and oddly enough it came down to that particular setting. I would just like to see if it's an issue that can be repeated elsewhere or if it happens to be a weird one off. Impero version 6.1.68 but it happened in early versions too.
Mic_Impero Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 I'll test this tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks Mic @ Impero
mrbios Posted September 25, 2017 Author Posted September 25, 2017 I'll test this tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks Mic @ Impero Thanks, I opened a support case months back about this but never followed it up after your guys said they'd not seen it before. Ended up getting to summer holidays and being too busy to do a remote session to show someone. Fortunately knowing that it wasn't a common issue led me down the path of trial and error with policies (as it never happened when an admin logged on!) be interesting to see how you get on.
skell Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) This fix was also given to me from Impero. Haven't had a chance to test it yet, however if it works its not an acceptable solution. EDIT: Tested and works. Keeping it on. Its fine, I misinterpreted what this setting does. Edited September 26, 2017 by skell
Mic_Impero Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Hi guys, Johanna has done some testing around this and can confirm that's the issue and the fix. It's gone to the development team here, but we've also noticed that it's causing people with RDP sessions and that's with MS, so it may need an MS change to resolve the issue. Your cases are still open and logged with dev, so when a fix does go into the software, or MS have an update, we'll inform you through the usual channels. Mic @ Impero 1
