[sims] Excel reports splitting data into separate columns

Anybody got any idea why my exports to Excel from SIMS reports I generate have started splitting data into separate columns, e.g. a date is now spread across 3 columns, and if there is a blank (e.g. missing UPN), the next field is filled in that column. It's making my old reports completely unusable, and new reports suffer the same!

 

All help much appreciated - couldn't find similar thread, but apologies if I've missed it.

I've not come across that before, what version of Excel are you using?

If you take the SIMS output you can manually run the autorun macro over it and see when it is splitting the data

I'm running MS Office Professional Plus 2013. It used to work (before the summer break). When exporting to Word, it keeps the data together correctly in the table's column. I'm afraid I've got no idea what you mean about taking SIMS output and running a macro! Thanks for replying!

If you export the report from SIMS and rename the file extension to .zip you can extract the excel document with the macro, if you extract then open the excel document it will give you an error about not finding ReportData.txt, do into the developer tab and open the macro, step in to the macro then copy the ReportData.txt file into the same directory as your Excel file (you can find it in your 'My Dcoument\tempSimsRpt' folder and assuming your report was the last one you ran in SIMS it will contain the data in question. Then just step through the macro watching what it is doing.

I expect you got this sorted already as it was some time ago, but I just came across your post yesterday when trying to sort the same issue. I realised that there was a '/' identified as a delimiter in my 'text to columns' settings in Excel left over from a previous use, and this was what was splitting my data. I took it out and re-ran the affected SIMS report and it was fine again.
