Hi All,

We have recently networked and added 30 HP Windows 10 Education laptops to the our domain. We are currently having issues with Flash Player on chrome with every user having to enable it every time it is needed. This is a nightmare when a full class of kids are logged on and every couple of minutes they need to enable it. Anyone have a fix? We are on a 2008r2 server.

Thanks

Under the chrome GPOs you can set the Shockwave Flash etc to be an enabled plugin by default, or when you say having to enable it is there another error?

The PPAPI didn't work for us

IIRC, it does if you disable component updates in Google Chrome. This forces Chrome to use Adobe's PPAPI Flash Player plugin.

Tried your GPO setting Arthur but it didn't work, I have the latest ADMX templates and Chrome version. However I tested the same policy setting that worked yesterday at a different school where I set the setting "Allow the Flash plugin on these sites" to Enable and enter in http://* and https://* and this has worked again. Not happy about relaxing the security but when you've got 30 5 year olds all trying to open a website that uses Flash its tricky.

Looking forward to the days without Flash but until companies start changing their content we've got to have it enabled

You can guarantee that in 2020 none of the big flash based school sites will have bothered to change anything at all (and o2 business will still have a flash based online billing tool), and we're left to take the blame/abuse when no access to flash means "I can't teach" :(

Edit: We ended up allowing the flash plugin on https://* and http://* as there were some sites that just didn't work even if you added their domains to the list :(

I don't know if we just have a different version of the ADMX but the latest one has just an option to enable flash by default, no need to list addresses etc.

Honestly haven't checked it much as we don't use Chrome as much as we can :p But might be worth checking your versions of admx too :)

*Edit - Ah nm noticed we have both enabled, derp moment! :p
