mulderite Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Using CSM here with update installed yesterday. Not had any hangs as yet but it's early days.. will keep you posted.
mulderite Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Well it's been a good few days since the September udpates were applied and unfortunately the File Explorer/Start Menu crash is still occuring.
newpersn Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 I've uninstalled classic shell and not had any problem yet
maark Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 this is definitely classic shell problem for me - since un-installation I have had no issues.
nicholab Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 How do you get people to use it without classic shell?
newpersn Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 How do you get people to use it without classic shell? Start menu should be redirected to your network share (if you used one) or you can create your own layout and export it to GPP to apply your layout.
maark Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 still had issues with start layout xml which I have not had time to fix. I drop shortcuts into C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs for now - students have roaming profiles. Would like to get redirected start menu, tiles and also UEV working but it is not easy. Microsoft guides not great and some just a bit flakey.
nicholab Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I just tried my start menu but it did open under the mandatory profile.
maark Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 tried redirecting to folders on C drive - start menu and layout xml this is with roaming profiles. A new user with no profile - all works ok on one machine - roaming profile is created on server. Can log back on to that machine ok with everything ok. Log onto another machine and get hardly anything on start menu and no tiles. logoff and login again - on second login it works. Any ideas? tried without profile - just using local profiles but it can take an age to login as it prepares profile so no good

This is my temporary fix for now. 1
