Hi All,

Our old school server and domain is called SCHOOL.local.

Do I need to use the .local for the domain or something else?

Thanks

You shouldn't use .local or .internal or anything else like that. Those have been depreciated for a long time. If you are making a new domain from scratch best practice states that you should use a private subdomain of your external dns name, such as ad.myschool.org or internal.myschool.org.

Yes but the "servername" part will be what your domain is called, not the name of the domain controller. It won't resolve to any IP addresses externally, but allows you to get ssl certificates etc, which you can't do for .local domains.

  • Thanks 1
