Sure I posted this but the topic seems to have disappeared.

I want to purchase a AC-PRO for home and use the Guest feature, can I separate the network or do I need a router to do this? Not had hands on this kit to try it.

I have the Lite version at home and can setup a guest network on the same network as your other devices, however it won't be able to contact the other devices.

If you do a search for crosstalk solutions on youtube, they have a couple of videos showing how to do this with the AC-PRO.

Happy to see I'm not the only one considering ubiquiti for home use.

Thinking of doing the same, problem i have is our modem/router is in the attic (as that where i am and i want a fixed cable!)

Down side is the ground floor back room gets 0 wifi, even with an extender.

Was thinking of A) Buying a Mesh system or B) Trying a unifi AP to see if that reaches

I use unifi at home LR in the attic and Lite living room. I also have a guest network but both run on separate vlan networks. My advice is never mesh unless it is the last resort, main reason is the lower bandwidth.

I've been using Unifi kit at home for the last four years. Just upgraded two of my three access points to the AC-Lite. Controller software now runs on a RPi and last month I grabbed a EdgeRouter Lite. The kids, guests and IoT devices have their own SSIDs and Vlans Works like a charm.

I haven't yet setup the captive portal and a payment gateway for the kids in the park over the road - one day.

So i managed to borrow one from work,

Plugged it in and it still didn't manage to go through our back wall to the back of the house :/ Even with it right on the other side! (This was a AC Pro)

Had a mini brain wave, borrowed a power line adaptor (or w/e they are called), plugged it in the back room and BAM all 3 rooms without wifi now have signal.

So have ordered 2 lite versions, to cover either side of the wall! This way instead of the 4 SSIDs (2.4/5, Extender and Back Room) i can setup UniFi to broadcast the one, one lite should be powerful enough to cover the main house without needing an extender.

Both coming tomorrow so looking forward to setting it up :D
