Java 8 Update 74 and IE11 not showing security prompts

I'm having a real nightmare with Java 8 Update 74 and IE11!

 

Basically we have several eLearning packages that work fine as long as you accept the several Java security warnings that pop up when launching them.

 

The issue is that on quite a lot of machines, seemingly at random (We deployed this Java to over 3000 PCs recently) those security warnings aren't popping up at all - therefore the eLearning doesn't work!

 

'Reset security warnings' in the Java control panel has no effect, I thought I had found another solution by unticking 'Enable Java content in the browser' then ticking it again but this only seems to be a temporary solution, as soon as the user has tried again this morning the security prompts have vanished into thin air again!

 

At a bit of a loss now as it seems quite random with some machines bringing them up consistently and some just deciding to bring them up when they feel like it!

 

Any ideas?!

So the issue is on some machines IE11 hasn't registered the JRE 1.8 add-on properly so it is still looking for the 1.6 one which doesn't exist any more obviously!

 

Any ideas on how to resolve, ideally via GPO? It looks like jp2iexp.dll in either case, just that before it was in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin now it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_74!

As your using an older version of Java 8, could it possibly be Active X Control Blocking that is causing the problem:

Yeah we have that turned off already

ONE Registry Key referencing the old Java. Delete that key, restart IE11 and BINGO!
