Gets even worse looking at scifi/tv nobody could patent satellites because of archur c clarkes work, ipads/tablets were in tng and you could argue the hitchikers guide to the galaxy is a pretty good description of a tablet as well

 

Arthur C Clarke's description of a 'Newspad' in 2001: A Space Odyssey is amazing! It's a great example of how technology is sometimes just delivery on a concept that people are already fairly familiar with, regardless of what tech they've been raised on.

Err I was born near a decade after 1980, I did not touch a computer until at least 11 if I remember right, think a mobile came into the house when I was 9. No internet until I was about 14. Though my friend showed me the internet on dial up and I used it maybe a few times in School. They were only just started to get whiteboards and projectors in my primary as I was leaving, before then they had blackboards. I still like to consider myself as having a tech-free childhood. At least free of invasive tech, if you forget about the TV. Smartphones did not really exist until after I left school. The computer was a thing in the corner. Today I see kids, stuck to the iPad, even babies, and think that is very bad.

 

I see old people using smart phones as well, they don't seem to have any issue getting to know how to use new tech, I think some people just don't want to know or put in effort to learn and prefer a "simpler" time.
