How do people add network printers for windows 10?

 

In Windows 7 we used logon scripts which worked superbly. I tried the deployed method via GP, but it seemed to be a bit sporadic. Moved back to log on scripts, but that sometimes has issues.

 

Any suggestions? Our print server is 2008r2.

 

Could it be drivers? We mainly have HP, and use the universal driver.

Its a strong possibility is will be the drivers, we install our printers locally for our engineer account but when setting up on the domain we use group policy to setup the printer.

 

 

With it being a domain account on it own profile it only uses the group policy printer and would require a printer driver to install it.

Could the problems be related to the drivers being non-packaged? Windows 10 appears to have the security fix in KB3170455 as part of the base OS, which breaks point and print for certain drivers.

We use Printer Installer. Used it for Windows 7, using it for Windows 10.

The closest thing I have to a printer deployment issue since getting it is having to repeat "No, really, it is that easy" over and over to new IT team members who have been used to all the other methods.

 

Though, it can't fix bad drivers if that's your issue here.

I don't think it's bad drivers.

 

When user logs in, and the printer isn't there, if they log off and back in, it would appear!
