DalekSec Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 *sigh* Can't believe i'm asking this, after years and years of apple bashing.... I'm looking to buy a Macbook (Personal use) Does anyone know anywhere that sells them at a reasonable price? Been searching ebay, etc. and the model i'm looking at (the new one with the usb-c connection) normally go for around £800+ I've set a budget of £700, with a bit of leeway. A new-ish Macbook pro will also do (the new model without the speakers either side) Needed as my Mac knowledge is poor and it needs to be better, plus i want a laptop anyway that DOESN'T have gaming abilities (less distractions) ....don't suppose you can get RGB Macbooks?

Pre-brexit vote you could get a 13" Air for £719 sometimes (depending on year) which was close to your budget, but since most computer stuff has gone up since then you will be looking closer to £849 now for a 13" Air. I have bought a few from their an you can never tell they are not brand new. Don't worry, i use to Apple bash and only use Windows for years from 3.0 to 8 (i loved Windows 2000), after Windows 8 i decided to get my first Mac before i smashed a computer in rage, once you fully get your head around MacOS its a pleasure to use compared to Windows and i wish i had got a Mac sooner.

MkII Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 once you fully get your head around MacOS its a pleasure to use compared to Windows and i wish i had got a Mac sooner. I have iPads and a Mac Mini to manage them on my desk. I seem to be forever trying to find ways around the limitations of MacOS. Maybe I should invest. What about upgrade anxiety?

zag Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 I'm looking at getting the new Macbook pro with the touch id sensor. A couple of years ago I would have laughed if you said my home machine would be a Mac, but their technology really is next level to anything else of the market.

I think Mac OS is a great OS, that is the main reason I purchased it. The touch bar is a pain though, I keep touching it by mistake. Take your work ID to the Apple store and you get 10% off.
