Ah... yes it a typo.....

 

Client on V120 is actually 10.16.120.2 and not 10.16.112.2

 

@Davit2005 was correct, I needed to add the networks into smoothwall with the gateway address point back to the core switch.

 

Happy days! Can make some ip changes such as the core switch ip etc and roll out VLANs!!

It's caught me out a few times but then it clicks, ah something I forgot :-) .
