simpsonj Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 A student has, on a school iPad, managed to turn on voice over at full speed, disable the wireless, and make the screen go blank. I can hear it, as I'm tapping things, it sounds like a demented chipmunk on speed talking jibberish. If I reboot it, I get a flash of the apple logo and the home screen, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. I worked out that if I take a screenshot, it gives me a flash of the screen, so I got into setting and slowed down the voiceover, but I can't work out for the life of me how they've managed to kill the screen. If I could hook it to the wireless I could wipe it with the MDM, but they must be hundreds of screenshots on the damn iPad now! Anyone got any ideas?

noelmm Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 If I remember correctly when the iPad is locked you can quickly press the home button 3 times to bring up a menu. I can't remember exactly what's in the menu for options but it might be worth taking a look in there. 1
Brimstone Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 This clever student has enabled some the accessibility options used on the iPad for vision impaired users. If the accessibility shortcut is on... You can turn this off by triple clicking the home button to get access to the menu If the shortcut is not on.... You can turn the screen back on just by tapping the screen with 3 fingers, 3 times then you can get to accessibility options in settings to turn VoiceOver off. 1
