luke1991 Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Hi All, I'm looking to get VLC Media Player loaded up to a CleverTouch V-series Android TV. However double clicking the APK which is loaded on to the internal storage (transferred from a USB stick), I just get "Unable to install application". I can't see anything in the Android Developer settings that would allow me to install it Any advice or tips would be great Thanks

ovzero Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Hello Luke1991 and Rob. We are in a similar situation. Any info you could pass on would be appreciated. Thank you, Oscar Villarreal
TraylerD Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 We've done similar, had to go into Settings and from the Security section under Device Administration turn on “Unknown Sources”. Worked fine after doing that.
ovzero Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Trayler, Hello. Our Clevertouches are running Lolllipop 5.1 I believe. We do not have that unknown sources option under settings / security. We even enabled developer mode but still not luck. What version of Android are you running on your clevertouch? Thanks, Oscar V.
ovzero Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Update.... So we discovered that most of our Clevertouch Plus displays are running Android 6.X and have the "unknown sources" option. However, one plus model with an older Android module is only running 5.X and does not have it nor the Clevertouch V-Series with 5.X. At the moment, we are assuming it is a version issue? For the plus model with Android 6.X you can install compatible APK's via USB or Clevertouch MDM. So that leaves us looking for a solution for the V-Series models. Anyone had success? Thanks, Oscar V.
tenessaa Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 I tried using the MDM console and still could not get apps to load. Anyone have any suggestions.
5719johnm Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 SOLVED! If you access the Debug Menu (I found this in the Service Manual which I obtained from my local Clevertouch repairer), go to Android Setting > Change Unknown Sources to "On" (default setting is "Off"). This setting can be changed back to the default setting once you have installed your Apps.
adougl16 Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Going to try this tomorrow. Is there a way I can remove the Clevertouch software and make it run normal Android?
