Hide the Recovery Partition

Hi All,

 

Is there a way to hide, or password protect the recovery partition on our Macs? Our students use Bootcamp to choose between Windows and OSX, but having the recovery partition sitting there is tempting for some who like to experiment. We've had a few Macs that we've had to re-image because of this.

 

Surely with the Recovery Partition being so potentially destructive there must be a way to prevent access to it? All I can find is the suggestion to set a Firmware password, but this also locks out the Windows Partition so is no use.

We've set the firmware password on ours (to prevent them tampering) and then set a boot menu using refind and it works find on our bootcamped Imacs

Thanks, I'll give Refind a try. Do you deploy your macs with Deploy Studio? If so, does refind work with Deploy Studio or do you install it manually after deployment? Thanks.

Yes, use deploy studio. Set refind manually after deployment.
