Mutli boot USB hard drive

Is this posible and can anyone recommend a way to implement it.

I would like to put all my OS and office install CD's on to my portable hard disk. But in a way that allow me to boot from the portable drive and choose which OS's I want to install.

 

I'd also want to be able to access the drive in Windows so I can have the Office install run from it

 

So boot from drive

1.Install XP -->starts up XP install

2.Install 2K -->start 2k install

 

This is to save be carrying round loads of CD, using a server etc is not an option.

Most modern computers allow you to boot from USB devices, however the majority still don't, so booting off CD/DVD would still be easier. Booting to a pre-Windows environment (which would still require a CD) would solve this in the majority of cases as the USB controller would be accessible.

It's easy to get the machine to boot from A N Other device; what's harder is to get it to boot in such a way that you can install an OS

 

May be a daft question, but why is using a server not an option? This is, after all, why god invented networks :-)

Booting from the USB device is not an issue. I'd just like to choose which cd image on the device to use.
