Hi all

I'm having issues with SMART Ink at the moment interfering with the display of Office 365 Webmail so that those who use a smartboard can't access it.

Disabling SMART Ink works however that then causes other issues with annotating PDF's and other items (and also no drawing over websites).

Contacted SMART and their advice is to upgrade to Notebook 17 and drop to limited functionality mode after 45 days.

Does anyone have any other solutions to it or does anyone know how the limited features in version 17 compare to 11.4?

Thanks

We had a similar problem with smart 11 causing our inhouse exchange email to display a blank page directly after logging in, if the your refreshes the page a couple of times it would display the email.

Updating to smart 14 appeared to resolve the issue so we have been slowly updating machines around the site as we purchases licenses.

so we had to either hold the machines back to IE 10 and the issue does not appear or stopped smart ink from manually loading and added a shortcut to stop it running.

all a bit of a faff

smart software isnt the best these days and i put it in the category marked "bloatware"

Thanks Both, I'll give the smart 12.2 drivers a shot and see where we end up. We've had 11.4 for a few years now and it's not caused us an issue so far, we can't afford to allocate a chunk of money to pay SMART each year, so hopefully this works!

you only need to purchase the license for one year they will continue to function after that, but you will not be able to install the latest software released after your license has "expired"

That's interesting, I worked on the assumption that once it expired it would stop working...

Updating to the 12.2 drivers seems to have sorted the issue for the time being though so I'll live in hope!

It'll drop to the basic mode after 12 months if you don't renew the licence...

SMART Ink is available for free as a standalone product though, so you should be able to install that regardless of which version of SMART Notebook / SLS you're using...

The added bundled features of SMART Learning Suite 17 are pretty good if you use them... but the very basic features will continue to be available without buying the license, but all users will still need an account with SMART, and will be required to log in before using it the same as if it was licensed... there is also a watermark in the bottom right corner of the SMART files... (The water mark is there if you've licensed it but use it without a SMART Board too though).

Grrrrrrr - I found a similar article but it was for a newer version of SMART Ink and was dependant on a folder in the users AppData!

So far, we seem to have survived the day with the newer version though!

should work from version 1.0 onwards?

i did notice that iexplore is in the include list so ive taken that out and put an exclusion for it just in case there were cancelling each other out.

see how it goes over the next few days.

We're having the same issue with Smart Ink at the moment too! How easy is it to deploy the updated Smart Ink over GPO? Or would it be better just to update it manually on affected machines? Edited by Orchardtech
