Whitelist attachments Outlook. Would this work?

Rather than blocking the ever increasing file extensions in emails has anyone tried setting up a email attachment whitelist?

 

The bit i haven't checked is how to block all emails with attachments.

 

Looking through the settings it may be done by:

 

Apply this rule if:

Any attachment's file extension matches...:* (Can you do this?)

Do the following: Reject the message and return explanation

 

Except if:

Any attachment file extention matches: .doc,.ppt,.pdf.....

 

Has anyone done this? Hows it working for you?

No reason why it wouldn't work, but you want to be absolutely sure it's working properly. I would definitely not run it with 'Reject the message' for at least 12 months, I'd forward it on to another address for approval. Missing some essential guidance because you forgot about some weird extension from the exam boards could be bad.

Did think of that but forgot with the heat.

 

Needed to test if wildcards work with the filtering.
