Can't factory reset WAP - how to connect?

I've got an old Netgear WNDAP350 that I need to use for some testing.

 

Problem is holding the reset switch in whilst powering on seems to do nothing!

 

It's broadcasting two open SSID's which I can connect to, I've run an IP scan and found out it's broadcast address but I can't use this to connect to it...

 

Any ideas how I can get on to it?

 

It does have a serial port but would I also need the IP to attach to this?

 

I'm thinking an IP scan when I've no idea of the address could take weeks

IIRC, you either have to use a controller to convert it to standalone or download the standalone firmware and flash it. The reset pin will just reset it in managed mode once it has been linked to a controller.

Try performing a factory reset using the instructions below: NOTE: Factory default button will be held down for a total of 90 seconds. While the AP is turned on, push and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Turn off the AP, continue to push and hold the reset button, do this for another 30 seconds.

Problem solved!

 

I think it was factory resetting itself but weirdly it was not giving it a static IP as per the documentation I had, it was putting it in DHCP mode.

 

Plugged it in to the network and checked for it's MAC address in DHCP and there it was!

 

 

Very odd.
