maxrebo Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Needing to upgrade the memory on one of our servers, I`ve got quotes for both Original and Matched memory, is it worth the risk to stick none original in there, apparently its tested to the same levels?
SHimmer45 Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 i have used "mixed" memory in servers without a problem, if you purchase "3rd party" RAM and it meets the specification it should be fine imo. Most of the major ram vendors have picking tools to aid you in finding the correct parts.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 You'll have no problem with mixed memory as long as you match the rank and speed. Unless it's a fujitsu, then it'll spit its dummy out whenever you boot the damn thing! Also, manufacturer part numbers usually add value to a stick without it being any different from their standard. HP-stickered Hynix 10600R 2Rx4 RAM is likely mechanically identical to Dell Stickered Hynix 10600R 2Rx4 RAM and both of which will likely be identical to The Hynix non-branded version.
