Hi all, been getting this message all morning. Only seems to be when searching in Chrome address bar on any browser using Google to search.

Anyone else had this? :/

Yeah, we're getting it. I can rotate external IPs which puts it off for 10-15 minutes but then it's back. Probably a google issue rather than an 'us' issue.

If you log in to a google account and then do a search you don't have to go through the never ending game of finding street signs and roads; it just allows you to tick the box.

I'm hoping whatever it is is resolved over the weekend and hoping people can make it through today. They're mostly just showing DVDs!

We've getting it too. Can't change external IP's and in our case all schools in the LEA shame the same external IP address. It could get ugly!

I have seen this when

1) A TOR exit relay

2) you are on the TOR network

3) you have a virus/malware

4) you google search for "hacker like" searches,

Is it possible someone is running a TOR exit relay on your LAN / External ISP ?

I would check.

Oooh now that's VERY handy indeed! Thanks much. Looks like we're clear here having gone back a ways too.

Guidance for Google Captcha Issues

We are aware of an issue where multiple customers are experiencing the Google Captcha (Robots) page. This is something Google have changed within their settings which is causing the Captcha page to be shown to some users.

Important: It is likely that this issue will resolve itself after 24 hours, once Google adjust the Captcha settings.

Smoothwall's advice

Our recommended solution is to contact Google to inform them that you are being caught by the Captcha page. The Google contact button can be found at the bottom of the Google search page by clicking Settings and sending feedback.

A short term solution would involve disabling HTTPS decrypt and inspecting your client machines, however as you will no longer be able to filter HTTPS effectively, we do not recommend this.

To summarise, your Smoothwall is not causing this issue, Google have adjusted their Captcha settings which is causing users to see the Google Captcha page.
