Making a wordpress site

Hi guys

Ive taken over the role of organizing and developing the school website. Im wanting to get us away from our current hosting company as they are trying to rip us off, the problem with this is that i will need to provide an alternative to them and for less money.

I am thinking wordpress.com but i have one issue that needs to be overcome before it is really viable, that is password protected pages.

Currently the password when entered is stored in the cookies for 10 days, i need it to clear after a moment or two but that seems to be an option reserved for wordpress.org.

Is there a way around this or a plugin that will give me the functionality i need.
