Mac air and Clevertouch screens - not a happy match, any suggestions

I am really struggling to get the Mac Airs in school to work well with the Clevertouch screens we have. I can get them to show on the screen but the resolution on either the mac or the screen doesn't fit right and I've tried different settings.

 

The mac air never remembers that I want the display mirrored after restarting each time. The HDMI connection can be flaky depending on which screen, sometimes the screen has interference, some time despite the sound set to monitor it disappears. So I mostly connect with VGA & audio cable.

 

Touch is the real issue - sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. When it does it's not great. I have 3 separate drivers that Clevertouch have given me, depending on which screen or which OSX which makes moving around to use different screens an issue as you can only have one driver on a mac at a time.

 

Clevertouch have gone back to the factory to try to at least get me one driver that work for all but they do have concerns that OSX isn't really suited to touch devices.

 

 

I just wondered if any other schools used Macs in schools and how they worked with boards? It's not an issue with IOS devices as obviously they are good with touch.

Not fully clued up on this, but could you not create some sort of script and get staff to click it every time they connect up their Mac?

I now this isn't a solution but the moral here is, save money and don't buy Clevertouch, in fact don't buy smart screens at all....replace with cheaper LCD TV's

/me Looks at my 10-point multitouch trackpads and monitors that I've been using for years on OSX...

 

Tell Clevertouch to shutup with their "concerns" I'm afraid. Problem is entirely outside of OSX/MacOS (i.e.: their drivers)

I'm a huge mac fan - but in my experience they can be a PITA with touch screens - although it normally comes down to poor or non existent drivers from the manufacturers. Whether that's due to apple policies and frameworks I'm not sure.

 

However, you might try adding in a usb2 powered hub between screen and MacBook Air if the ports are USB3. I've found I needed to do this for a MBP on an iiyama screen.

Had two clever touch in our Mac music suites since 2013. Never once got them working interactive with iMacs or my MacBook.

The support was rubbish, spent hours on the phone.

 

I just gave up and put windows laptops in the rooms if they want interactivity.

But for 99% they are just projectors

I also emailed our Clevertouch supplier yesterday to say we were still having issues. They sent a engineer out today and we spent the whole morning trying out various hdmi to mini DisplayPort adapters/cables and VGA to mini Displayport adapters and cables. This seems to have solved it, hdmi to displayport cable works, adapters don't. So far so good anyway. The drivers Clevertouch gave me were by Touchbase so it is a bit of a triangle of suppliers going on.
