Things that don't work after SMB1 is disabled

Have had same issues re: Konica printing, enabled scan to FTP as a workaround.

Backuppc (for all the Linux folks) doesn't seem to work. Adding "-m SMB2" into the Xfer options for each host gets you a bit further, but still errors out.

 

I'll try with rsync tomorrow, manual backups for now.

Also worth mentioning this disabling SMBv1 business does over lots of old-ish Linux bits and bobs, but sticking "min protocol = SMB2" in the global section of smb.conf (back that up first then restart samba service) on anything half-recent sorts that.

All completely useless now - the Linkstation even decided to completely die after being shut down to remove. Won't fire up now. Won't miss any of them!

We have a large pile of those terastations still I don't think we'll get rid just yet, they're just too damn handy, however I know there's 3rd party firmware available for them which I believe enables a lot more.

What's the 3rd party firmware for these? Would be interested to know and see if it works.

Will have to do some digging, I found them years ago but never bothered with them as we had too much stuff to lose on the stations.

I have seen various hacks done via NASCentral - unfortunately my Linux capabilities are best described as weak, and the steps required to hack them are beyond me. I've already salvaged some 2TB WD Red disks from one to populate a new Synology, with plenty left, so it won't all go to waste.

NASCentral rings a bell so it could well have been one of those. There was certainly a lot of TFTPing and the likes involved

Just had the latest firmware for Kyocera 4551ci and 3051ci installed. Scan to folder is working now with SMBv1 disable on the fileserver.
