Bev Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 We have a user with a laptop which she uses at home. Her Home directory points to a folder on the server, but she can use the files when she is at home. This isn't a setup I've used before. She is having a problem in that all her files are greyed out (at school, on the network) and she can't open them. The documents are on the server and can be opened on the server, so they are there but she can't access them. Any ideas? I've resynced offline files, but not sure what else to try.
Bev Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 No, not even close. When i right click on a document in the properties it says it's offline, even though we can browse to the server from the PC so it is definitely online.
originofsymmetry Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Does clicking the 'Work Online' button in the menu bar help?
Bev Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 She has taken her laptop back to teach, so I will have to check later but I'd like to think I would have noticed such a button.
OllyMc27 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I had this exact issue a week or so ago, I'll write up my fix when I get back to my desk.
purpleoakley Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 I know this is a while ago but this helped me resolve this issue. The only thing I would recommend is that the staff member back up any documents they have worked on at home on to a external hard drive just in case. Then copy them while connected to the network and synchronise. Hope it helps someone. 1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. 2. Locate the following registry subkey, and then right-click it: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSC 3. Point to New, and then click Key. 4. Type Parameters in the box. 5. Right-click Parameters, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit)Value. 6. Type FormatDatabase, and then press ENTER. 7. Right-click FormatDatabase, and then click Modify. 8. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. 9. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
