Brad_Sarge Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Hi All, Having a bit of a panic at the moment. The school has a CIDA exam tomorrow and we have been trying to get Java working correctly for quite some time in preparation for the exam to no avail. In one part of the exam the students are required to make a site and on the site they must insert an applet from Dreamweaver. This is an easy 6 marks as far as the kids are concerned so it is important we get this working. When the applet is made and the site is opened in explorer or Firefox you get a java security message. We have gone into the exception list and added multiple things but we still cant get it to accept it and run the applet. Has anyone else running the exam managed to get this to work? Any help would be massively appreciated. Many Thanks Bradley
Cazale Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 I think you need to add the directory to java.policy (java.home\lib\security\java.policy) See here: https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/technotes/guides/security/spec/security-spec.doc3.html I suspect adding "permission java.io.FilePermission "\\hades\2013intake\13BAJAND\MXC Test/-", "read" to java.policy might work (I'd maybe get rid of the space in the "MXC Test" directory name though). 1
Cazale Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) wait, sorry, for a single directory of files it would be: "\\hades\2013intake\13BAJAND\MXC Test/*", "read" or, if you wanted it to be recursive through directories (e.g.): "\\hades\2013intake\13BAJAND/-", "read" (/- is like *, but it applies to "all files in the file system under this directory" rather than "all files in the current directory"). I suspect you want the latter, but thought I'd clarify. Edited May 11, 2017 by Cazale 1
