Having an issue with SMART Notebook 11. when some teachers launch the application it does not load, i get windows is not responding and then it crashes. If i right click it run as administrator (enter my credentials) it works fine.

I have elevated the user permissions when opening the file but it does not seem to have mad much difference.

Just as I posted this i think i sorted it. In the users home folder there is a folder called smart notebook which had two xml files in. I deleted this folder and deleted the xml folder and when i launched notebook it then worked

Have you tried turning UAC down/off, this has been a temporary solution to a surprising amount of our smart problems.

If it follows specific users then try deleting the custom.xml and toolsmenu.xml files in their My Documents. If you're using roaming profiles, then it would also be worth clearing them down.

If it stays with the computer then check for local profiles, maybe clear down the smart junk in c:\prgramdata, and if all else fails rebuild the computer. Or at least uninstall and reinstall smart - make sure you use the smart cleanup utility.

Any reason why you haven't updated? Notebook 17 is out now. While I can understand not jumping straight into the new version, you might find a later version sorts your problems and is fairly stable.

Thanks for this! I have only been with trust which supports the school 2 weeks so just trying to work out what is what at the moment. It would be my intention to update them but not sure at the moment what the license situation is with Smart.
