Hi, we've inherited a POE switch from a closed business to one of the environments that I'm currently supporting (a charity). They have 4 Macs on their network and some Ubiquiti UniFi AP's for around the centre.

We have this new switch which we installed and all the devices communicate on one network fine with, however the switch itself doesn't appear to be requesting an IP from DHCP.

Doing a network scan doesn't find the switch either. The DHCP range is from 10.10.0.1-254, however the network scanner is scanning through the whole subnet which will take an age, and probably won't find it even then.

It has a Serial port, however unsure about how to manage this considering they only have the new 12" MacBooks. Does anyone know how to reset this switch without having to telnet into it?

First time dabbling with this sort of equipment, it should have a web GUI (referring to the users manual) however I can't find anything mentioning the default IP.

If anyone could help, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Hi, it's a[h=2] 3Com 3CRUS2475[/h]

I can't seem to find a physical reset button on the unit, which is a massive annoyance. Very little documentation online as well.

Thanks! :)

Hi, there is a reset switch (well pin hole) on the back of the unit. The opposite end to the power socket.

I have found the quick start guide at http://www.alanbrandon.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/3com_3crus2475_quick-start-guide.pdf with the information on page 8.

Hope it helps.

Hi, you are a legend!

On my unit, there was a plate screwed over the reset button, which would explain why it wasn't obvious! I've removed it and reset the switch to defaults now. Thank you!!

Hi... a little update..

We've configured the switch and got all the VLANs setup how we want... however, we can't get an IP address on any of the devices connected to any of the VLANS!

We're using UniFi gear for the switches elsewhere and they all work fine. I think I need I need an IP helper or something like that? However, I can't see an option on the web page to configure it?

I don't have a USB to Serial adapter, so can't see if it's in the CLI anywhere however I need it to get DHCP from our Windows box that runs DHCP.

Thanks.
