Downsides to not using GMail if using Gsuite

Hi Guys,

 

What are the downsides of not using gmail for email and staying with the lgflmail.

 

I currently use Gsuite on a separate domain for my school. schoolname.education

 

Another school I look after as asked about the downsides to using their existing .sch.uk domain for Gsuite but maintaining LGFL as their email provider, is there anything in the Gsuite that doesn't work as it should as i'm aware how tightly integrated gmail is to other products in GSuite.

We don't use gsuite much, but it works fine for us, we've used gmail without the ability to send/receive external emails for teaching kids about email, and to allow them to receive sharing notifications etc.

Gmail is a pretty damn good email system.

A plus of using Gmail is the integration with drive. You are able to attach items stored in drive straight to the message. Otherwise you will have to download from drive and attach to your other email service.

Also when teachers set a deadline for work in Classroom it will automatically put this into the pupils calendar.

Hangouts also integrates with gmail and the calendar.

I was assuming you meant cloud-attachment, where you don't email the files.

 

O365 and GSuite not talking to each other is the worst part of all this.

Assuming it is setup on that machine, probably wouldn't be for personal devices.

 

Also attach stuff in Google Docs format would just a link, similar to how it is when done with Chromebooks.
