The student Loaning of School Devices

We are looking to Purchase devices her for students use (For Home and School Use)

 

Is there other school that do this...?

 

Where is the best place to get a 'student contract' to parents\pupils etc to sign...

 

Also what is done with insurances?

We've being doing this for a number of years mainly with our 6th form but also other students. A letter is sent to parents detailing our loan scheme and the terms and conditions including details of billable repairs and the students are invited to apply for a loan device. Parents and students are both required to sign the invitation letter showing that they are financially responsible for any damage or repairs and advised to take out suitable insurance if they think they need it. Students then bring this letter to our department and we issue them a device and go through the terms and conditions to make sure they fully understand them. The main thing to do is make sure you have a strong returns and repair policy in place and that it is enforced.

 

For info, we have around 300 student loan devices that are used both on and off the school network.

@swiftysw1 - on our @ccessAbility programme, devices are covered by 2 year accidental damage and theft. You choose the devices you want to be made available to students, we'll then help you market the scheme to parents and they'll be able to choose from your selected range of devices on dedicated ordering portal. The parents then pay monthly for the device and it's their's at the end of the term at no extra cost. We handle all the admin for you too. We loan laptops, netbooks and chromebooks out as part of a library loan scheme. We have separate student and parent agreements which need to be completed before a loan can be made. Loans are 24 hours or over weekends. We have been running this for 5-6 years and it seems to be popular and works quite well (a few instances of damage over the years which is to be expected).
